Your Workout Regime Should Be Well-Suited To Your Goals
It is probably safe to say that you are looking to become a healthier version of yourself. There are simple things that you can do in your everyday life that can help you to achieve this such as drinking more water, eating more fruits and vegetables, and getting in a good walk on a daily basis. You may also be at the point where you are ready to incorporate a workout regime for your health.
What you may not realize is that different types of workouts and exercises are going to do different things for your body. In order to choose the right workout, you have to decide what your goals are and tailor your workout in accordance with that goal.
Common Fitness Goals
Sports Conditioning- If you are training for a marathon, much of your workouts are going to be comprised of distance running. If you are a basketball player, you are working with increased vertical jumping, lateral movements, and endurance. If you are working on sports conditioning, you will want to cross-train with various activities in order to keep your entire body strong. This cross training will also help reduce the risk of injuries.
Fat Loss- The basic idea of burning fat is to burn more calories than you are in taking on a daily basis. If you were to burn an extra 500 calories a day, it would result in the loss of 1 pound a week (as about 3500 calories are necessary to burn to equal a pound). Many people want to spot train a particular area in order to lose fat in that area. This is not going to work because the body will pull energy from everywhere and not just from the area that you are spot training.
Gaining Muscle- You may not realize this, but it can be just as difficult for some people to gain or maintain weight as it is for others to lose it. In order to gain weight or mass, gaining muscle is the most effective way to do this. The ultimate idea behind this fitness goal is to intake more calories than are being burned. In order to gain muscle, it will require serious weight lifting depending on the amount of muscle that you are trying to put on.
One of the biggest issues that people encounter when it comes to working out is that they don’t see the results that they want. This happens to people because they are not taking the time to understand their goals and the workouts and exercises that will aid them in attaining those goals. Before embarking on this journey, make sure you know what your goals are and understand the best workouts and exercises for those goals.
